Let’s make sure we get things right
In no particular order here are standard requirements that are expected of anyone who wishes diabetes awareness presentations.
The organiser MUST request delivery of an event online with at least three weeks’ notice.
There MUST be a run through/dry run at least a couple days before the event.
On the day of the event the hosts/organisers MUST be online at least 20 minutes before the start time.

The link for the event MUST be such that one should not have to be typing in a password and code to join. Just a click on the link should suffice.
The person/s responsible MUST ensure I am a co-host to enable the sharing of the power-point presentation.
There is a two-minute video embedded in the main diabetes awareness presentation and the sound must be shared so that it is audible.
A prompt start is vitally important and no waiting for further participants/late comers to join should occur.
These are one-off events so avoid a long section of praise and worship. Keep that brief or not at all.

Whoever introduces me MUST keep that to a minimum and not read out the full bio/resume. Only extract from it a few salient points.
The full diabetes session with Q and A normally lasts one and a half hours but can be shortened if required.
Webinars are normally free for one hour so hosts/organisers need to, if necessary, buy enough online time, e.g. 2 hours instead of the embarrassing situation of being cut-off prematurely.
Some online sessions limit the number of people who can join so be mindful of that and pay the necessary additional amount if large numbers are expected.
There are no objections to having the session recorded.
The host MUST be able to mute everyone so that one does not hear chatting, loud music, the dog barking or the cock crowing as this is distracting and off-putting.
There MUST be a technician who is au-fait with computer technology present for the entire session in case of any technical issues.
A draft flyer/poster of the planned event MUST be submitted for approval before it is disseminated.
